I am continuing with the character analysis for Quantico. In part three I will address the characters in season two, so stay tuned ….
Miranda – I enjoy Miranda’s character with all her nuances and flaws. Who knows about the depth of her affair with Liam (I’m not even going to address his character because I always found him highly irritating and shady); or what happened with her deceased husband. They don’t divulge a lot of information about the back history. There are a lot of cover-ups in the show and she is obviously in the center of them all –willingly or unwittingly. She strikes me as a moderate INTJ who has a slight feeling presence – she has her moments. She loves to be in control and collected at all times but can be caught off guard easier than she would like to admit. She is also somewhat extroverted but again, this is a t.v. show where the characters aren’t always consistent.
Shelby – Oh Ms. Shelby Wyatt…. the southern belle who started off as an innocent orphaned heiress, morphed into an overly confident agent; although the show sometimes tries to argue otherwise. Shelby grew up with an abundance of privilege but had to prove her place in the FBI. She loves to win but doesn’t necessarily like to be the center of attention. Shelby knows how to be assertive and extroverted when she needs to be, but I don’t think she’s a true extrovert, especially as her character developed. If I had to type her split personality, I would say she is more of an INTJ, like Miranda but with a higher extroversion. Therefore I would put her between an INTJ and an ENTJ.
Nimah and Reina: I really like the twin’s characters. I wasn’t sure how their characters were going to develop but I enjoyed watching their personalities clash and getting along at the same time. Nimah is more of a classic ESTJ although the show tried to type her as an ENTJ (by Will); she is more of a sensor than an intuitor. Nimah prefers to follow set rules and protocol rather than following intuition. The show does a decent job of keeping her character consistent than varied like some of the other characters…. On the other hand her sister Reina, is the complete opposite. She is a feeler type and that’s one of the major reasons why she had huge difficulty with assignments and missions. During the Meyers Brigs episode they typed her as an INFP. I basically agree but she’s not a high intuitor, just barely enough to make the cut.
Caleb –Nimah and Brandon typed him as an ESFP, with Nimah even calling him a clown. However, Will said he was like “Donald Trump, George W. Bush, and Madonna… a Dynamo”, which would be an ESTP, and I think that is somewhat accurate. He seems in between a feeler and thinker type; this show likes to portray characters as having a feeling side but different scenarios strongly contradict their writings. Caleb is a perceiver and would most likely never make it as an FBI agent. Even if his family tried pulling strings and bribes, I don’t think he would’ve been a likely candidate.
Simon – I’m sorry, but he was very creepy; he was also not around when they were assessing each other’s personalities. Simon was the awkward nerd who led everyone to believe he was gay because in his eyes it was “easier” – who does that?? It seemed to me that he was interested in both genders for sure and perhaps he just didn’t want to put a label on it…. I almost don’t even want to type Simon because he doesn’t really fit into any category, but I would say he is an ISTJ or an INTJ. He has a soft spot for Reina and really wanted to be together but Reina followed the advice of her sister and the values of her religion, therefore she did not pursue a relationship with him. I guess that would’ve been the ultimate war between their families – a devout Muslim and Jew getting together…. Yah probably not.
Will – Will was quick to identify the personality of Caleb and Nimah. Whereas I agree with his assessment about Caleb, I don’t think he was accurate with Nimah’s. It’s funny because he and Nimah have similar personalities – they always think they’re correct. Will was identified as an “Inspector”, which is an ISTJ. This would appear to be accurate, however towards the end of season two, he admits to breaking a lot of rules but doesn’t get caught because he knows what he is doing. This is not indicative of an ISTJ but rather an INTJ. However I don’t think he’s a true INTJ, he is autistic and people who are autistic usually see the world very literally; a sensing function, and not an intuitor function. In any case, this is why I feel the characters are sometimes all over the place.
